Despite having family ties to New York City’s Chinatown neighborhood as well as photographing the Lam family for over 15 years, I still do not feel completely a part of the community. I have never lived there, sadly can not speak the language so therefore I still consider myself a visitor. Regardless, I have been drawn to this area of my hometown for decades and continue to discover new unexplored facets which fascinate me. After so many years photographing inside Chinatown homes, I began to wander the streets of Chinatown again as a way to cleanse my creative palette and play with new ways of seeing.
